Freelance Musician

Ken began playing the guitar about 30 years ago. He has found himself in just about every musical situation conceivable. He maintains a busy schedule of teaching, recording and live dates. He performs and composes with his jazz/fusion trio, Slice of Pi, which is currently recording a follow-up to their debut CD.  Over the years Ken has performed with a wide range of artists and bands. He has also been involved with studio recording projects, commercial music, television and movie scores, and has written guitar method books addressing improvisation and theory for the guitar. Ken frequently hosts clinics demonstrating technique and theory. He studied Jazz & Classical guitar at Wayne State University and Theory & Composition at Oakland University.  Ken Studied under acclaimed guitar legends Joe Fava and Paul Abler.  Ken has had master classes with notable musicians: Joe Pass, Scott Tenant, Carlos Barbosa Lima, William Kanengiser, John Scofield, Gary Burton. Ken has also performed with the notable musician Stu Hamm.  Currently, Ken teaches theory and guitar instruction privately.  Some of his many influences include Jazz, Fusion, Rock, Funk, Classical, Progressive and World Music.  Several notable musicians were key in Ken's development: John Coltrane, J.S. Bach, Shawn Lane, Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani, Jimi Hendrix, Mike Stern, Allan Holdsworth, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, Chick Corea, Jeff Beck, Herbie Hancock, Steve Lukather, Jaco Pastorius, Wayne Shorter, Eddie Van Halen, Jon Durant, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis. Ken is an acclaimed guitar instructor, college educated and professional musician. He has made teaching and performing music not only a passion but a career.
